Board Elects New Executive Committee

In January, the Board of Directors of Carolina Crown elected new members to the leadership team. Additionally, a change was made ito create an Immediate Past Chairman position within the Executive Committee.

Please join us in congratulating Nick Annan (elected to Vice Chairman), Antonio Boyd (elected to Secretary), Brian Rose (elected to Treasurer), and Don Rawlins (serving as Immediate Past Chairman). Joe Rosemond was also elected to the position of Chairman of the Board.

Joe has been a part of the Carolina Crown since the corps’ first season in 1990.  Recently elected Chairman of the Board of Directors, Joe is serving his 3rd stint.  Among his numerous roles within Crown over the years, he has been a primary contributor to the Crown Events team, particularly the signature event, NightBEAT, among many others.  Joe is a proud inductee into the Carolina Crown Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

As a performer, Joe studied music education at East Carolina, where he was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Concert, and Symphonic Bands.  He was a student leader of the Marching Pirates, drill designer, and instructor.  He was a Spirit of Atlanta brass line member aging out in 1980.

As a teacher, Joe taught and designed for numerous high school band programs, including AL Brown HS in Kannapolis, NC, and most notably, 3-time Marching Bands of America Grand Champion, Rocky Mount Sr HS in Rocky Mount, NC.  He also has over 30 years of adjudicating HS bands in the Carolinas and participating in many HS clinics.

In addition to his marching arts experiences, Joe served as Executive Producer of the award-winning Cabarrus Youth Theatre in Concord, NC, for 6 years. 

Professionally, Joe spent most of his career in mission-critical engineering and process support operations in the pharmaceutical industry, working with many clients, including GSK, Eli Lilly, Pfizer, and Wyeth.  He has also managed corporate real estate in the financial services industry.  In 2022, Joe retired from his corporate career and now works part-time as Facility Manager at The Chapel of The Cross Episcopal Church in Chapel Hill, NC.

Joe and his wife, Frieda, reside in Hillsborough, NC, and have 2 grown children and 1 grown grandchild.
